An exciting opportunity to own one of these working springer pups. They are home bred out my own girl Freya, FTW (Field Trial Winner) Sperrinside Daisy of Kingsmeadow, to my own dog, Ftaw (Field Trial Award Winner) Cornermarsh Alder of Kingsmeadow. This is Freya’s final litter, I have kept 2 youngsters from her first litter that are now 2 years old and if these pups are half as good as them I’ll be pleased. Mother and both half sisters can be seen. One of the youngsters received 3rd place at the Scottish Game Fair all aged spaniel test this year and we have high hopes for her in the future. Videos/demonstrations available. Freya won her first field trial a couple of years ago and will compete again in open trials this year. As well as competing, she will be beating and picking up throughout the season. She is an absolute pleasure to shoot over. Although a fantastic working and competitive dog she is a pleasure to have around the house. Great with my kids and other dogs. Archer, the sire of the pups is my own dog, he is exceptionally well bred with a lovely temperament. A nicely put together dog, with bags of pace, drive and style and some fantastic breeding behind him. Again he’s a valuable part of my picking up team and a much loved family dog. I have a 12 month old youngster by him to a different bitch and I’m really pleased with her so far. I will be keeping a couple of pups back from this litter but there is an opportunity still for 1 boy and 1 girl looking for a new home. Working/competition homes are always preferred but we are happy for them to go to active pet homes. These dogs will need plenty mental and physical stimulation, and would suit a family with an active outdoor lifestyle. Please note these pups have had tails legally docked, but only a small amount removed. Dew claws left on. Pups will be vet checked, microchipped, wormed, flea’d etc. They will not be vaccinated as that will be the responsibility of the new owner. Both mother and father are DNA tested. Dam is clear for PRA disease The sire is clear for PRA, FN, FUCO, AMS, PFK plus tested clear for over 210 other hereditary diseases . hip score 4/2 eyes tested clear Pups are KC registered. Full pedigree can be provided on request. There are over 40 Field Trial Champions in the first 5 generations…. Buyer’s Checklist
Buying a dog or puppy is a big commitment and investment. Here at Working Spaniel we have put together some of the key things you need to ask, think about and check before connecting with buyers or making the decision to visit. We cannot protect buyers every step of the way so once you step outside the safety of our site, it is over to you.
Identification
Do not be offended by sellers asking for ID or verification of who you are. Many sellers will be wary of scammers and the potential for theft so put them at ease as soon as you are able. The same goes for sellers- make sure you include plenty of information about the dog or service you are selling and set out your requirements of a visit.
Safety
Be very aware of scams and requests for upfront deposits or account information. Emails sent to sellers are not saved on the site. Working Spaniel cannot be held responsible for any phishing or fraudulent activity.
Be Responsible
Ask lots of questions, and make sure you have done your research. If a dog is being sold with a pedigree or the sire and or dam has awards you can verify this on our platform. Licensed breeders will always state that they are licensed and have a licence number. Not all puppies will be from licensed breeders especially if it is a hobby breeder that does not breed lots of litters.
Licensed breeders:
Licensing regulations vary across the UK so please check the rules on your local council’s website or where you plan to buy.
Licensed breeders need to pass strict inspections to get their licence. They will be given a star rating from 1 to 5 and undergo periodic re-inspections to ensure they are meeting welfare standards.
Hobby breeders:
These breeders usually have litters every now and then but don’t do it often enough to require a licence. Hobby breeders usually focus on one or two breeds and will be just as happy as licensed breeders to provide viewings with the mother and paperwork.
Puppy farmers:
These are the ones to avoid! They can be hard to spot but they won’t do everything in this checklist. Look out if:
- they avoid your questions,
- try to hide the pup’s mother
- they don’t showing an interest in how you will look after the puppy
- they pressure you to make a decision
- they have differences in addresses or personal details on paperwork
Remember
- Puppies must be 8 weeks old at the time of sale and been fully weaned before they can leave their mothers. Please make sure to check the paperwork to ensure the puppy is old enough.
- Puppies must be viewed with the mother at the location of the breeder.
- Microchips are a legal requirement as are legal docking certificates if they are working dogs and have been docked. Never accept them being sent on later!
- Health testing is not vet checked. You can verify health testing on Kennel Club Registered breeds on their website. If the dog or parents are not registered ask to see the health test certificates and do your research on credible testing.
- Most puppies will have been health checked for microchipping. Ask for details of the vet to verify this.
- Not all pups have been vaccinated but a good breeder will often include first vaccination with microchips.
- Ask about the puppy’s worms and fleas treatment schedule. Depending on the breeder’s schedule you may need to do the final treatments yourself.
- You should always get your pet insured as the cost of unexpected vet bills can be very high. Insure as early as possible as companies do not usually cover existing medical conditions. You want to be insured before anything develops.

- If you think a puppy may be the result of irresponsible breeding, do not “rescue” the puppy no matter how much you want to. We know it’s very hard but walk away and report the seller to us and your local council immediately.
- We recommend viewing without commitment to buy, walk away discuss and let them know, do not be put under pressure in any circumstances.
